Can I renew a expired PGWP?

Hi,
My pgwp has expired, due to my passport expiry date.
I just received my new passport, is it possible to renew my expired pgwp (I still have 2.5 years)?

If I can, should I come back to Canada as a visitor and renew it? Or I can renew it outside Canada?
(I am not in Canada now)

if you were in canada it would be easier you could just apply for an extension and will be granted a PGWP for the remaining period since your initial one was only valid till the duration of your passport expiry date.
but since you are outside canada i would say that will depend on how long you have been out of canada already?if its not too long then contact the canadian embassy at your home country and inquire they should be able to direct you to the right path.
