Can I leave Canada while waiting for my TRV application?

Hello! I applied for TRV early this month. I got my Passport request last Oct 19 and sent my passport right away. The Ottawa Case Processing Centre Received my Passport this Monday October 23rd.

My flight is this Tuesday October 31st. I am just wondering if instead of rebooking my flight, my mom is sick, I can just instead apply for a travel document from our country's consulate and use that instead of my passport. I will just wait for my passport outside Canada. I will just ask my friend to send it to me while im in my home country. Is that possible?

This is an question for your destination country. As far as Canada is concerned you do not need a passport to leave the country.

Keep in mind that passports are usually requested by airlines when entering international zones and the vessel.
