My permanent residency recently got approved and I have just received my CoPR which is valid until May.
I'm going home to the UK on December 16th and returning to Canada on January 2nd.
I'm therefore hesitant to activate my PR status before I leave as it seems unlikely that I will receive my PR card in time for travel... so, it seems I have 2 options:
1. Activate my PR status before I travel and then apply for a PR travel document. This seems to be a bit of a hassle, and perhaps risky as I have to surrender my passport and seems stressful given I'm only back for 2 weeks that I would get it back in time for my return flight (especially over the holiday period).
2. Hold off on activating my PR status and 'land' when I arrive back into Canada and wait inside Canada for my PR card.
Obviously option 2 feels like the better option, but has anyone else been through this?
Do I need any additional documents to return of have to declare anything to my airline (Air Canada)??
Also, my working visa expired in October. I applied for a BOWP but my PR was approved before it. I'm confused what my working status currently is. I haven't changed jobs so have kept the conditions of my working visa, but can I now start work with a new employer?
