Hi there,

First time poster, but a long time follower of the site.

So, I currently have an application for PR being processed via London (I'm a British Citizen). On the advice of the London High Commission I did not get my medical done prior to submitting my application. I'm currently in Canada with my wife on a visitor basis, as she had to move from the UK back home to Canada straight away for work, and we couldn't really face being apart. I was wondering if I could have my medical done in Canada, and send it on to London from here to save time in the processing of the application? Regardless, I will have to return to Britain anyway so it's not the end of the world if I can't do it from here. It was just a thought as it might make things a little quicker.

Thanks for your time!

DGT.

Yes - you can have the medical done in Canada. No need to travel back home to the UK.

Awesome!

Thanks for the advice. Here's hoping this helps speed things along!

I don't know how far in the process you are, but wait until you have the file number from the sponsorship approval before you send anything to London... there is always a risk of loosing it otherwise...
It's strange that London advised you to wait for the medicals as you're supposed to send it with the original application to Mississauga and not wait until it reaches London, but oh well - hope it works for you.
good luck ( and welcome to London VO!),

Thanks Sweden!

I thought it was strange too, so I included the email correspondence with them advising me not to have it done until they say so. I guess they want to make sure medicals don't expire if there are problems? Or have people waste money on the medicals if they're ineligible. Who knows, but I wish I'd just gone ahead and got it done!

Well if you managed to have a written correspondence with London about it before starting the application, then it should be all good! :-) and you've obtained from London something that a lot of us were after - a sign that they read and respond to emails! :-) well done there, that bodes well for your application!
There is a London thread if you want to join ( and add yourself to the spreadsheet, the link is in my signature) http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications-t49436.6810.html
Good luck,
