My wife and I are both Australian citizens but my wife is also a Canadian PR. We are in the process of gathering our paper work in order to apply for her to sponsor myself and our children into Canada. We are currently IN Canada, however because of complications getting our Australian tax sorted, the process is taking a long time and I recently had to apply to extend my visitor visa. This was granted and I now have a visitor record that expires in Feb 06 however it says on the bottom of it ***THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY***.
My question is this: can I go to the US for a week and be allowed back into Canada? Everything I've read about visitor visas says that re-entry from the US is allowed however I'm unsure because it feels like I'm not on a normal visitor visa anymore because it's an extension—maybe it's treated differently. Also the ***THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY*** has me thinking I'm not allowed to leave.
Any advice/experience would be great.
Thanks
