I have a full Indian license. I came to Ontario in Fall 2015. I'm attending a conference in Banff on July 2017 and need a car to travel between Calgary and Banff. I'm in a Student temporary resident visa. Can I rent a car and drive for 4 days in Alberta?

Note: I have a G1 in Canada and drive everywhere with my friend holding G license. I'm a pretty good driver. I was driving in India for 7 years

You will probably need an international driving permit in any case to show to the rental company regardless of having an Indian licence. The fact you have been resident in the country for a couple years will be an issue though with the rental company using an Indian licence but check with them anyway and the G1 would be no use to rent a car.

Alternatively of course if flying into Calgary there is a regular direct coach service to Banff from the airport.

As others have said, you can't rent a car or drive on your own with your current license. So the short answer to your question is no.

Hi,

I am landing to Halifax in June month. I have an Indian National Driving License since 2003. So, my query is, would I need to take driving license test for Learner license or newly license after coming to Nova Scotia?

Could anyone advise that what kind of documents I need if I want to skip the learner license level while taking driving test ?
