I got our passports last Thursday and my visa will expire very soon on Feb 18 so need to really go urgently. Problem is my employer here does not allow me to resign yet. They told me to just take a leave and come back after a month, to give them at least 2-3 months before I go for good. Is it true that I need to stay in Canada for 2-3 months before I can leave the country? They said I have a minor son who is 8 years old so I cannot just leave soon ( I have actually 3 sons ages 19, 17 & 8) Is it true? Even if my husband will be staying behind for them?

Another problem is my landing fees willonly be around 18K CAD and the requirement for us is 23K CAD. Do you think this is ok? Do you think the immigration will accept this? That is all I can afford at this very short time after paying the very expensiveflight tickets :( :( :(

Please can somebody advise??

what do you mean the employer will not let you resign? You don't need their permission to resign, just tell them "today is my last day" and that's it.
yes, you need all the money or else they will not let you land.

Yes - you can land in Canada and then return immediately. No - it's not true that you have to stay in the country 2-3 months after landing.

As obs35 has explained, you must be able to show full proof of funds ($23K) when you land or you may be refused landing.

You can "land" in Canada and immediately return. However, you will need to have all the required funds available or they can refuse to land you. Can you borrow some on a short term basis?

If you leave before you get your new PR card through the mail in Canada (they will not send overseas) you will need to obtain a PR Travel Document to return later if you are not visa-exempt to Canada. The alternative is that you have the PR card sent to somebody in Canada to forward on to you. Or you could enter via the USA land border in a private vehicle instead.

You can just land and come back. Many of my friends from Dubai did the same.
Regarding funds just borrow money for a week from someone, make a draft take along with you. don't use it bring it back with you to Dubai and refund it through same exchange only in 25 DHM. when you plan to settle for good at that time you can make the draft again and carry as you will really need this much amount to survive without job for first six months according to size of your family.( after saving a good amount of funds in Dubai, you have three years time)
for tickets you can get free instalment via cleartrip.ae if you have account in anyone of the leading banks like NBD etc.

I think you only need to look at the terms in your labour contract. If that says 30 days notice (standard) then that's all you need to give. If you labour contract is limited (usually 2 years) then you'll struggle to get gratuity before completing your service as per contract. If it is an unlimited contract then you will get your gratuity based on how many years you worked with the company.

Thanks a lot for your advice guys. I'll try my best to have the right amount for my landing fees. If not lets see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

My employer does not want me to resign due to the urgency of my resignation. They want me to train first my replacement at least for two months before I go.
