Hi,

I came to Canada in 2017 on work permit. This is the second year of me filing taxes. This time I heard about the CAI tax credit. I was in Canada for the whole year of 2018. Turbotax shows that I can claim CAI.

I read that for claiming CAI, you need to be a resident. I don't have a PR yet. But, if you stay for more than 183 days of a year in Canada, you are a deemed resident.

So as a deemed resident on work permit, can i claim CAI?

Thanks in advance.

Tax residency and permanent residency are two different things. I think you can apply. If you are eligible ,you would get the credits
