My partner (not married) have both been thinking about immigrating to Canada for the last couple of years. We stay in the UK and have been over to see family on a number of occasions. Unfortunately my family start from my Grandmother's sister and her children/grand children hence are not closely related enough for sponsorship. We'd been planning on under the FSW but with the rule changes it's not looking good job category-wise when looking at the required job titles and descriptions.
I myself work in IT and have done since graduating almost 10 years ago. I have a Bachelors degree in "Computer Networking", A Diploma in "Computer Hardware Support" and Higher National Certificate in "Computing" along with a number of industry accreditation relating to my job. I currently work as a "Technical Specialist" for a Banking group in a senior technical role planning, designing, immplementing and supporting (3rd line) various enterprise wide financial, messaging and colaborative systems using various technologies.
I've read a number of posts by other IT workers regarding applying under 0213 but in most cases it doesn't sound promising as I, like most of them do not have "Manager" in my job title (or current contract) and do not control any budget withing my company or manage anyone beneath me on a full time basis. And from that if I'm honest I accept that I wouldn't say that I meet the requirements under 0213. So it doesn't look good for the time being....
My question is (and I know it's pretty unlikely) would I be able to apply under 0013 - Computing Services Company President? I ask this as I worked as a freelance IT consultant through my own UK Limited Company for 3 years a number of years ago. I ran the company as it's Director with my former wife as the Secretary, was registered for VAT and have the company accounts, etc to show. I undertook numerous contracts with various financial institutions (one being my current employer) and goverment departments and have the contracts as proof.
Now I understand from the description in 0013 that they obviously mean a president of a much larger organisation and know this is a long shot but could there be and possibility of this being valid?
