can i apply for travel document while the processing time of my PRC renew?

hi everybody, my PRC was expired in March 1th 2011 ,i am in canada right now and i applied to renew my PRC and the prcessing was started in February 17 2011 . as you know the processing time take 151 calender days.
my question is can i apply for the travel document while im in canada, because maybe during this time i have travel outside of canada for family purpose ?

if i can get travel doucment , can anyone tell me how long the processing time take ?

You can only apply for TD outside Canada. I learned the process can take from 1-4 weeks. Its is faster when you apply in person rather than mailing in your application.

You know you could have applied for "urgent processing" of your PR Card since you are traveling. You should call CIC and try to change your application to urgent processing.

To get expedited processing for your PR, you need to send proof of travel. It is not enough to say that you might have to travel because then everybody would say that. If you still don't get your new PR card before you need to travel, you can get a travel document in the Canadian embassy in the country you are visiting.
