Hello, I am a registered nurse back home with two years of experience. Presently in Canada on a work permit after my masters in nursing. I am working on getting my nursing license in Canada but it will take a while so I have worked as a a COVID swabber and PSW all these time while awaiting my license. I was told that I will not qualify for CEC because of the jobs I’m presently doing hence I researched and decided to try out the FSW route. My questions are: 1. Do I still need proof of funds even though I work in Canada (though not in the same category or NOC code as in nursing)? 2. Do you guys think this application could work because of the clashing jobs back home and what I do presently ? Thank you

What NOC is your job? For CEC, you must have at least one year of full time work experience in Canada that is NOC A, B or 0 skill level.

haven’t even been able to find it under the occupation table. The PSW is under skill level C and the COVID test agent, I have not seen it under any category. It’s why I ruled out CEC and I’m considering FSW. So what do you think?

Again, you need at least one year of full time work experience in Canada in a NOC A, B or 0 role to qualify under CEC. So if you don't have that, it's not an option.

FSW is an option but whether you are selected will depend on how many points you have. Have you determined this? You want to score 480+.

Yes, I wrote my celphip few weeks ago and with the crs tool, I got 486. My concern is 1. Do I still need proof of funds even though I work in Canada (though not in the same category or NOC code as in nursing)? 2. Do you guys think this application could work because of the clashing jobs back home and what I do presently ?…. The job I’ll be applying under isn’t the same as what I do presently (that’s my point)

You definitely need proof of funds. What you have won't qualify as a job offer under FSW since your job isn't NOC A / B / 0. So you need POF to qualify under FSW / EE.

BTW - make sure you are saying "no" to the job offer question and are not claiming the 50 job offer points under EE.

Got it! Thank you so much. Last question lol, so for the employment history, I only need to input the ones for my NOC code and leave in the present job I’m doing in Canada out of it( I can include that for personal history right? )

I don't know. Read through the posts in the EE section of the forum.
