Hi all,
I have searched around and can't seem to find answer to this question. Sorry if it's common knowledge!
I have a girlfriend in Quebec and would like to apply from there to be able to be with her. If it isn't possible to do that can I at least visit while my application is being processed?
Hi, According to my understanding there can be no problem for applying for CSQ while you are in Quebec. If you succeed you can file the application for PR from outside Canada - Buffalo. But it is not easy as you think. Visitor visa is allowed up to 6 months and should apply for extension for further stay. You should also have moderate proficiency in French.
In case you find job in other provinces of Canada and if the employer secures positive LMO (Labor Market Opinion) then you can apply for work permit, but it has to be done outside Canada too, but in some circumstances that can be done also at Canadian port of entry.
However you could wait for other members opinions in this matter
Thanks so much for the reply!Thats at least some indication that it could be possible to apply inside Quebec, starting on a visitor visa and extending if need be. Regarding french, I have a decent level and would say I am approaching advanced level. I previously lived in Montreal for one year and took extensive French classes with the governments own Scolaire de Montreal. I even have a couple of certificates from them which I am hoping will help my case.
Also I am actively trying to improve my french everyday (my girlfriend is a francophone! ) so I figured if I apply within Quebec I should be in good shape for the interview. Thanks for the advice on the PR application - I haven't thought that far ahead as I'm just focusing on getting the CSQ first.
If anyone else has other advice or experience to add I'd really appreciate it!
