According the official Canada website, "A temporary resident should apply at least 30 days in advance of their status expiring."

Can I still apply if my status (Study Permit) expires in less than 30 days?

Here's my situation if you want some context:

My Study Permit is expiring on July 31, 2020. The final grade of the last course for my degree was supposed to be release today, but our prof gave birth two weeks ago and started her maternity leave, so the grade turned out to be delayed as well.

I have emailed her and my faculty to explain my situation, but I'm preparing for the scenario where I can't gather both the final transcript and the degree confirmation letter in time to apply for PGWP before July 31. The only other option is to apply for a visitor record, but my Study Permit expires in less than 30 days.

Any input will be really appreciated!

Yes, you can apply right up until the day your status expires.

They advise you to apply earlier in the hope it may be approved before your status expires, but really, that's not an issue.

Thank you for your reply! Just to confirm, there are no hidden consequences or "punishments" if I apply when my status expires in less than 30 days? Will I still gain implied status when I'm for a decision on the visitor record?
