My husband is on work permit as a Long Haul Truck Driver (and I am here as a visitor). He works for a company and the work load has decreased and so salary as well (contract stated from 2,500 per month to 3,500 per month after 2 months of work but now it is half from what we expected) and thus we are barely surviving. There is no way we can make some money and save to go back to home country by the time his permit expires. Is there a chance for me to get my status of visitor reviewed based on our low family income and for me to get an open work permit at least for part-time work? We feel desperate as we came here to earn money not to work just for food and a place to live in...
Can somebody please advise if there is a law of some sort of the status can be reviewed if the financial situation gets worse...???
P.S. My problem is that I don't have a skill that would be highly needed in Canada neither I have University degree of any sort, but I have about 4 years work experience in English Speaking Country and good references. I worked in a call center as customer service agent and in my last job I worked as IT first line support agent. But I know that it would be hard for me to get an Employer here that would be able to get me LMO in this type of job.
But maybe Immigration and Visa office can consider our financial situation and based on the fact that my husband is not earning the money he was promised they can let me (as an exception) get an open work permit till his permit expires so I can work any job to support my husband.
