Can’t let go my SONY Bravia!! :(:(

Hi all,
Switching continents (from Asia to America)…….people are telling me to leave all my electrical appliances behind as they won’t work in Canada! (220 Volts v/s 110 Volts)…....i’ve heard that “Converters” burn out too quickly to use for any length of time.
This is so frustrating!!!.... I may leave everything else…..but I’m madly in love with my SONY HDTV…. I’ve got to find a way to take it along!
anyone with similar experience?

TV's also may not work for a different reason. PAL vs. NTSC. You could end up with a nice TV that only works on converter and only works with a DVD player you also brought from home but not actually to watch TV.

If you are really serious about your TV and you are buying your own house or condo, you could get an electrician to install a 220V outlet. Many houses have a 220V outlet for the dryer because they need more power. There is a difference in the frequency though, 50 or 60Hz so you have to look into that as well.

It’s nice to know that we could get 220V installed, but I may not be buying my own place very soon. I will see if there are no other issues with the model i have (except for using a converter), then I would probably take my chances!!
