Hi fellow forumers! I want to start a thread for those who landed in Calgary and those who are planning to land there. please feel free to share your experiences especially to those who are still waiting for their visas. Thanks.

Please include me in your list of intending Calgary residents...if all go according to plan...then i should be among the residents by the end of 2011. Currently awaiting for request for medical........

Im working in oilfeild as drilling supervisor,And Im looking to find suitable job in drilling operation for me in Calagary.But unfoutunatly there is no enough concern engineers in this forum about petroleum industry jobs ,although its become the high demands globaly,and more intensive in Calgary.
So I want to ask :Is there any body here in this furm or thread has get job offer in oil industry in Calagary?

Calgary and Edmonton are very simular, in all things including how much you earn, We do believe Edmonton is even more secluded than Calgary, not very much around it.

Do you know much about jobs in this area with regards to Calgary.I know most oil, and environmental consultancy companies are based in Calgary and our services are pretty much on the high demand in this field.

I'M working as Petroleum Geologist in pakistan and hav applied for FSW1. Calgary is the best place for us and sure it has lot of jobs but depands on oil prices and season and like other cities their r lot of survival jobs unless to find job of ur line (driller, cementer, geologist etc)

Its my pleasure to be your freind and we are in the same boat.Also I applied for more than 15 jobs in Calgary but without any response.
I think the oil jobs in Calgary ir regulated and you have to be amember in APAGGA orginization(Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta).Because I was read allot of job requirments over the all Calagary oil companies ask for this membership in Calgary.
So I suggest to all engineers those want to work in oil companies to enter this usefull website :www.apegga.org

Also on the other hand I suggest this usefull link for all galgary group to see the job requirments like:-

I have always thought so...and fingers crossed that shall be my case. My earlier plans are to get my qualifications and experience (UK based experience) assessed prior to landing. I am also going to take an online course entitled 'Certificate in environmental practice' which infact equates to a 'canadian experience and its currently recognised by big/small environmental professional companies. Please if you are working as an Engineer/geologist/environmentalist.......don't forget that these are regulated professions and we would therefore require registration and assessment.

If any one is into Environmental engineering, please get in touch.....we could share more ideas, but believe me there are opportunities in Calgary and its environs for those in oil and environmental profession.
