Calcutta University - Step By Step Process - Document Verification

I'm currently living in the UAE, interested in migrating to Canada. I've registered on the WES website and I'm to get my documents attested/ verified by Calcutta university.

Since I'm away and not at the liberty of long leave, I really need help, as in a step by step process of who do I approach or where do I go in order to get my documents attested/ verified.

I do have a number of question though

*Does the university mail the documents to Canada directly along with my reference number or do I need to do it myself?

*Is it necessary that I have to have all the originals, as in the Degree Certificate & Transcripts, along with a copy of all the documents for them to attest?

*How long does the process usually take (for them to complete the attestation)?

*How much does it cost overall?

*Does my college need to attest any of my documents before I go to Calcutta University?

*Is there a number or any mode of communication available so that I can contact the university for help.

you just have to contact calcutta university and they can send your attested certificates directly to canada with your reference # , but you have to explain this to them, and they will charge you for international post, if by any chance they don't want to send it directly, than get all the stuff delivered to your address and than you can forward it to wes without opening it. wes will take about a month after they receive your certificates.

I'm actually planning to go to Calcutta shortly and hence wanted to know how the process works so there are no hiccups. Also there is a form from WES (Academic Transcript Request Form) that needs to be filled out, so do i need to have that available in the envelope along with the other documents since the form itself has my reference number on it?

as per my knowledge you degrees should be in a sealed envelope by calcutta university, you are not suppose to open it yourself, only wes can open it, however you can put that form in another envelope and put both envelope in a larger envelope ;)

Academic Transcript Request Form is for you to request our university to release transcripts for ECA. You can fill in Part A of the form and submit it to the university and request them to fill Part B. You can mention your reference number in the space provided at the bottom of the form. This is not a mandatory document that needs to be sent to WES.

'...WES only accepts documents attested and sealed by the designated official at the institution that conducted the examination (e.g. Controller of Examination or Registrar's Offices). Attestations by individual professors, officials at affiliated colleges, or external notary publics will not be accepted....'

I had applied and received the Academic Transcript from Calcutta university which I had forwarded to WES for evaluation. But they have come back saying that they also needed the Mark sheets attested by the university to be sent to them in a sealed envelope just like the Transcript. Does the Academic Transcript issued by the calcutta university does not have the marks obtained details in it?
WES mentioned that the transcript sent just has the transcript summary page which only indicates the division earned in each part but not the statement of marks.
I am confused, does that mean, Calcutta university has issued me an incomplete transcript? Should I reach back to the university to get me the attested mark sheets in a sealed envelope separately?

Did anyone else get the same query from WES while applying for evaluation?

Please help. I need this information urgently.

I have also applied for Canada immigration. I have duly submitted my transcript, however, Wes is asking for document verification to Calcutta univesity.this verification is costing rs.6500 per document which comes to 6500*5 =32500 in my case as I have 5 documents..

Anyone facing the same problem?
Or having any idea about it?

Hi Deborn and Olivia,

I am also facing hte same issue. WES Canada is doing 2nd level of verification directly with Calcutta university. But I have been told by WES that this inter-institute communication and I need nothing to do. I wonder if I can speed up the process by any mean. You guys are requested to share;

1. How come did you know about the verification fee Rs.6500/ ?
2. Any recent development in your case.

Hi, does transcript means attested copies of mark sheet enclosed in a seal envelope? or it is some separate document in regards to CU.
