Happy New Year to you all. :D

My husband was contacted first via phone then by email for his interview as well as when to send in his passport. I would recommend making sure you give both to ensure they can contact you should they need to.

I made the trip to Egypt for the interview and was interviewed as well as my husband. I was called in after him and the VO told me at the end (30 mins or so) that he approved our file.

Best of luck to you.

Take Care, MadeInCanada
happy new year to you too MadeInCanada
For me I did not have time to take off work and go to attend the interview with my wife
is it a negative sign ??
secondly the officer did not tell her any decision and told her within a week will call or send you email and it's been now 9 days without any updates ?
do you have any clue about why she did not give her any answer during the interview ??
I was thinking that she will take her passport after the interview but this did not happen

thanks

Even after being told he approved they did not take my husbands passport either, I wouldn't be worried in that respect.

I think our case was a bit more red flag filled, which is why I dropped everything on the three days notice they gave and booked the ticket. If you read over posts from back then you will see I was recommended to try and be there by a few others.

Keep in mind it will be slow going with the holidays and all the days the office is closed. A week with three business days off gets stretched out. I would guess that since tomorrow is also a holiday that you should hear back soon.

Also, they told my husband a week for his passport to be ready and it took almost three. It's normal, lol, AST Arab Standard Time hehe... Inshallah you will hear back soon!

Have question MadeInCanada
Regarding the red flags
Do you think 15yrs difference is red flag that can result in refusal ( i am older )
Also regarding theengagement and wedding All happened in one visit to Egypt in one month can be red flag
FYI.I submitted photos for engagement and wedding that was in her family house
Also money transfer to her after marriage. Medical insurance to her with me through my work chatting snap shots via viber and what's app
And more. ....

To be honest, it's pretty sexist. If your a man and marry a younger woman is more likely to be accepted. In our case I'm older by ten years and it did take some work to jump that hurdle in both our application and the interview.

Every case is different, yes it could be looked at negatively. However other points of your application may have explained why it was done like that. For example, we had no big party or official engagement. His father was away working so on his return we had a simple gathering of immediate family. Basically if you explain the whys before they are asked it makes it all make sense.

I don't know all of your specific details but I gather work wise it was best to make the one trip, I'm sure your application filled in the blanks and all will be fine.

The hardest part of this entire process is the waiting and wondering after the application has been sent. Take a breath and try to relax. I hope you hear some good news soon!

I think this is the maximum ,
the average is from 7 to 9 months

When our application was sent in it jumped from 16 months to 19. They apparently have reorganized things to catch up on back log. Ours took 6 months from start to finish. We talked to people on here that had been waiting MUCH longer and my husband even landed before some had heard back. It's sad. And very inconsistent. This site was such a resource and a blessing to meet people that actually understood what we were going through.

Best of luck to you all in the new year!!

I sure hope you're right! I keep hearing about people getting it in over 6 months, but seems too good to be true especially compared to the 18 months they have on the website.

Happy new year!

Hi there, many different aspects are taken into account regarding the application itself, to the circumstances and possible red flags (as well as if all fees were paid at once)when trying to figure out processing times. There are no real rules and seem to be exceptions to any that are in place. Human error and delays with forwarding any documents asked for and or medical exams to be redone also can be added. Worst case scenario is the time posted on the website.
