just for an update guys.. my wife received the passport yesterday with the visa on it .. so it's the end of the long road for me..so thank you all very much for your help and encouragement, i really think that this topic helped me a lot to survive during this difficult and long waiting time i really you all good luck and hope the suffering will end so soon.

guys.. just to be clear.. most of the files were transferred from Ottawa on January 24th.. and that doesn't necessarily mean that it's the final step.. it does only mean that the pilot project in Ottawa for the Cairo visa office files has just ended

So why the files transferred to Ottawa, what is the role of Ottawa office?

Our file has been transferred to Cairo office as well, I wonder if this means that I the cairo processing time is applicable on us from the moment it was transfer or does that mean that we are in the final stage of processing!!

The Ottawa pilot was opened originally to handle all approved appeal cases. As time went by it also was delegated to take other applications from outside visa offices. The reasons for such are back log and or office closures.

Ottawa reviewed your files and came to a decision. Now, the decision was either call for and interview or continue with processing. The files get sent to Cairo after the Ottawa VO is finished. Then the rest is to be completed (medicals background checks as well as an interview if the Ottawa VO deemed it necessary).

I can't say how long it will take from here but if your file has been sent from Ottawa to Cairo, you are on the home stretch.

Anyway my time line is application received march 2nd 2012, AOR transferred to Ottawa June 26th 2012 and the file had been transferred to Cairo not from a long time ago.
I sponsor my wife and I am a Quebec applicant.

Kindly note that you will receive a request from the Case Processing Center in Mississauga to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fees.
When received, we will send a request to London to extend his medical.
