I was told by my MP that even though the office is closed, at times, to the public there is still a basic staff there working, ever so slowly. Basically, if you are within the 18 month period there is probably no reason to contact them to ask them what is taking so long. If you want to build up your case you can certainly send in information that will strengthen you case. For example, my parents came to Egypt and met my husband for the first time. They travelled with us and stayed with us, so I sent in this information, with photographic documentation, to our file. Also, contact your own MP and ask them to look into things.

Unfortunately, 18 months is our current reality. All we can do is hope that they work fast and decrease the wait time. I'd be curious to know if anyone at all has had interviews recently...
Processing time for my file finished twice time for my file first when it was 15 months since sponsorship approval date , then they increased to 19 months and now if finished again in last July 20, 2013 and they respond me by phoning me even i emailed them and they told me that they dont have to follow that times its optional for us and we contacted MP n no answers from Cairo visa office bcz whats happening in Egypt and what will happen next Friday too

I have a question.. my husband paid the fees online and he printed the receipt that came on the screen at the end but it didnt have any barcode on it.. is that normal? does that paper is the receipt we should attach with our application?

Its Simple and normal.
You should write his name on the reciept address, postal code and telephone number and attached it with application form and document list then send it. Good Luck

Is there a problem if my wife come from Canada to visit me until issuing the Visa by the visa office

because the processing time in my visa office its take a long time its may up to 18 months
i think its too much and i cant tolerate all of that without wife and son

the visa office in Cairo they received my application just before 1 month.

That really sucks, sorry. Can you start to gather and add information/'proof' to your case so that it will be stronger? Like letters from friends, family, and photos, etc? I really hope it works out for you. Good luck!

I think there is no problem at all if she visits you, in fact you can add her visit to your case file, and that should make your case stronger. I also plan to visit my husband, as I completely agree with you that being apart for such a long time is so difficult. Tell her to keep a copy of her flight information, and send that to be added to your file, with maybe photo documentation as well.

Good luck!

I hope so too...and yah the are very slow..

@CairoCouple yah we are waiting for the caipsnotes and tomorrow i will go see someone about my case mayby she can find whats going on...My son and parents and a good friend of mine is coming with me for the appeal and also many of my friends will write a letter that i can take with me to show our mariage is real and so will his family like my sister's inlaw and my father inlaw..and more pictures..

Do you mean she will visit for a few months or live with you until you get the visa? As long as the Canadian government knows that you want to make your lives together in Canada, and not Egypt. Just make it clear in a letter, and make sure they know your plans, exact plans, of what your life in Canada will be like. If they think you will get the visa, but still, in the future, live in Egypt, they won't want to give you the visa, which makes sense.

Good luck!

Hi everyone,
I had emailed CIC with regards to transfering our file to another visa office and they reponded back right away stating that I need to email the visa office is Cairo with this regard and that they will make the decision as to weather or not my file should be transfered. This is very frustrating becasue if the visa office in Cairo does not respond back at all.
Our file has been in egypt since May 28, 2013, we haven't heard anything since.

The posted time is 18 months, so not having heard anything in 3 is normal. Take into consideration the other factors as well.

I would suggest trying to put your attention on other things. As hard as that may be. Hope you hear something back soon.

As long as your wife is a citizen she is free to travel during the processing. If she is a PR herself then she is to stay in Canada with the exception of short/average vacation time.

Thank you for your response. Will try to be patient as difficult as that maybe at times. I Just pray we are one of the lucky ones that go through the process in less than a year, today marks 7 month of waiting.
Good luck everyone.
