Hi david26,
I had submitted a request for CAIPS notes as well and had neglected to include a $5 cheque. One of the people that process them called me up 1 or 2 weeks after I had sent it to request the additional cheque.

HOWEVER, on the phone, she told me that if my husband was IN Canada, it is under the Privacy Act and would be free (even if he isn't a citizen or resident). But since he is out of Canada, I had to pay $5. If I understood correctly, if you are inside Canada, I believe you DON'T need to include $5 . If anything they will contact you quickly enough about it requesting it.

I just got an email from them and they are asking for the evidence that i am right in canada.so i need to send them the stamped passport copy.it will take time because of canadian post.thanks

Can you scan them and send by email mentioning the postal strike situation?

But I'm glad they emailed u guys bk!!!

Just got this now after my request of sending the CAIPS by email:

"Hello,

I just talked with one of the supervisors and she just confirmed 2 minutes ago that you are going to receive the CAIPS notes via e mail tomorrow, June 17.

Should you require any additional information just contact me by e mail or phone and I will do my best to help you.

Thanks.

That is good; It's nice to deal with a department that responds.

I have only just asked the department (by email) if they allow CAIPS and FOSS notes to be collection in person.
I know a few people who were worried about the postal strike; I was going to collect their notes and email them.
But if the department is sending replies via email, it seems that I won't have to travel into downtown Ottawa.

You are not bugging, you are just asking:)

Yes Baloo!
I wish Singapre office would be the same in terms of responses!

Hello All,
Got CAIPS note by email this morning( 8:04am); still cracking the codes.
Do you know what is means:
" Paper file sent to: PAB BF File to: PAB on 26-06-11"--this is mentioned bottom of almost all pages ( total 9 pages)

I looked at previous post on CAIPS quickly but did not get abb.. of PAB; BF is probably the bring forward date.

More to read...

If I sent my CAIPS note by regular mail about 3 weeks ago, can I write them an e-mail and request them to send it to me via e-mail???

Yes, I did. email at this address: Alina.Haramita @ cic.gc.ca
She would be able to tell you if they have received it and when you should expect it. If it is ready, ask her to email you instead of mail due to postal strike. I got mine that way.
