Hi, there. I'm going to request CAIPS notes...I need your help.
I got the form from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp and filling out right now but I have a few questions.

Does anyone know if it means by Requester's reference no and ATIP file number? It's asking for thos on top of this form and I have no idea.

I'm reqeusting my own file.. so
1) I checked privacy act - receive copies of the records and - in English.
2) I checked Request for - CAIPS (information abroad) and wrote SEATTLE (my file is in Seattle) and wroe my file number.
3) at the end, I wrote my name, address, signature and the date

Do I need to send them a copy of my current visa and a cover letter as well? Do I need to prepare anything else? Do you know how long it takes to get the result?

http://www.caips.ca/index.shtml

check FAQ, it covers all info.

Thank you for your reply but I already have been to that website yesterday and found out that they charge $40 fee to get my CAIPS notes, so I would like to request CAIPS notes by myself....

Do you know if we need to write a cover letter and a copy of current visa?

1) Leave the Reference No. and ATIP file number blank. They don't pertain to you.

2) You don't necessarily need a cover letter, but yes you probably should send a copy of your current visa, showing that you're currently in Canada. Some people also send a photocopy of the information page of their passports as ID, too.

3) How long it takes varies. I've heard it takes less time if you fax your request instead of mailing it in, but either way you're probably looking at 4-6 weeks on average.

Thank you very much for your help! ;D

Can you please confirm if I have a right address and fax number for them?
