About CAIPS Notes:

The Computer-Assisted Immigration Processing System (CAIPS) is Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s automated system for processing applications outside Canada. Information is entered on CAIPS from application forms and supporting documentation submitted by applicants for temporary resident visas, study permits, work permits, travel documents, immigrant visas and other documents. The notes entered in the CAIPS system by an Immigration officer are in English (may be in French for Quebec immigrants), easy to understand and provide very useful information. However some of the codes used within the CAIPS file may be difficult to interpret. The CAIPS Coding Kit provides assistance in the interpretation of the file in these circumstances.

There are various agencies based in Canada who can get your CAIPS notes. Their service fee may differ, but the minimum you have to spend is $5 which is the fee charged by CIC. It might take approximately 1 month to get your CAIPS notes from the time you order. If you have received your CAIPS notes and wondering what is the meaning of codes indicated, please read through to find some of the frequently used codes. If you come across any codes mentioned below, please feel free to discuss it here so that it is beneficial to all.

Thanks, really useful to de-crypt the CAIPS file details, though I still have two question that I hope you might be able to help with

1. SELDEC = 1 means pass, does that mean I got the pass mark of 67 points and the rest is just the routine medical and fees payment?

2. I have two columns of points calculation; the one on left is 66 and the one on right is 71, which one was considered?

Many thanks.

The official form currently used by the CAIPS / GCMS retrieving agents is in the Link 1 below. One cannot apply for the same from outside Canada. You can cross check the information by downloading the application kit from any of the agents website (Link 2).
