By order of receipt or random

Hello everybody,

Do you think that the processing of the medical exams has been accomplished by order of receipt? I begin to worry as seeing some people to get their results but not me, although the RMO (Ottawa) had received their medicals later than mine?! It is an extension with redoing of the x-rays. I am waiting 8 weeks yet.

Many thanks!

In the case of medicals, I don't think anything is actually "sent" to the individual visa offices (i.e. snail mail). It is all done electronically. Basically the regional medical office actually analyzes and approves the request for extension, and then sends the VO an email saying the decision is made. The VO can then access the results electronically.

If you are seeing delays, it could also be due to the fact that the medical re-assessment is done but your VO has simply just not gotten around to re-opening your file again. Perhaps some VOs request the extension, and put the file on hold for a set x weeks while they go on to other applications.

You can read some more specific info here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob423.asp
Upon receipt of the request for reassessment, the MOF or the HB delegated staff will:
- Review the medical file to determine if there is sufficiently relevant and up to date medical information to provide a new opinion of admissibility on health grounds;
- Request additional medical information if a new opinion based upon the existing information in the medical file is not possible;
- Assess the medical file including any new additional medical information as needed;
- Provide a new opinion of admissibility or inadmissibility on health grounds;
- Enter the new ‘M' profile in the CIC electronic platform (such as GCMS or FOSS);
- Send an e-mail to the officer who requested the reassessment
to confirm that the process has been completed

Did you find this out from your eCAS? (i.e. medicals received?) I know they haven't got our extensions yet since I asked, and they replied that as of yesterday they are still waiting for the results to come in.

True, it's all electronic, but still someone in the RMO should make that change in the system. Seems to me that at least for now London is quite swamped. It's been 5 weeks for us. The bummer is they don't provide a timeline, so we really don't know what to expect. I've looked around and I've seen people mentioning anywhere from 2-3 weeks to 2-3 months for the extensions and re-medicals. Any kind of additional information is certainly appreciated :)

True, who knows the backlog in the RMOs that are processing the medical extensions. I can't see expected turnaround times anywhere. Unfortunately you may end up waiting twice... once for the RMO to approve the extension, and then once more for the VO to re-open your file again after your results are updated. Hopefully at least the VO would get back to your file first thing when they get the approval for extension.

Yes, that's all we're hoping for at the moment. :)

It just showed Medicals Received about 6 weeks after the results were sent from the Doctor's Office to Ottawa.
*(Dr was also in Ottawa)

Not yet, unfortunately! I know that RMO Ottawa has gotten my medicals 9 weeks ago but still nothing. I have send two e-mails to the embassy without any reply by them. I don't know how many months I will have to wait before the Passport's request. I was sure that the extension is not so complicated but I was wrong.
