Buying A House

I cant understand how anyone would buy a house anywhere with out a full inspection.Your home is the biggest investment you make in your life.
When you go to the bank to invest in funds dont you ask a lot of questions? And your house is a lot bigger investment. And a bank will not give you a mortgagae without an inspection,a mortgage company might.

I have had more to say. I have been so shocked too. It is a mess. I don't wish to tell the whole story but more than happy to answer any Q. It is a Monoply... business ...extortion..etc etc. To go into the recourses I need resources. It means I sell the house to pay and feed the troll lawyers. Take another example of the Cnd Health system. Do you think they have adequate health system? especially in remote areas? Yet, they still claim they are higher than Europe in health care and they still can not recognize a PhD doctor, who is qualified and trained in Europe. My husband is one of those European qualified and trained doc but when we finsih the immigration complex syndrome, he still has to pass their superiority exams, before he can be equal to their superior docs. I do not wish to go on and on because someone may jum and say :"look Halifax-Maple, if you don't like it go back to where you came from". In fact, it was thrown into my face more than once:" if you don't like it go back to where you came from"
Don't even get me started on the health system, the harmonized tax, the transfer of professional credentials or even the annual provincial "moving day" (July 1 which seems a thumb to the Federal Canada Day, imho) in Quebec...I reserve my complaints for my monthly meetup group of ex-pat Americans who have sympathetic ears.

Haha kind of true though isn't it. If your husband is already a certified Dr. in Europe, and you seem to think that the Housing Market and Health Care System is superior over there. Why take up jobs from people that actually appreciate the things we have here? No country is perfect, but Canada has alot more positives to outweigh its negatives... An easy one to throw at you since your from the UK... We actually see the sun from time to time.. so that's kind of nice. Haha, my entire family is from that side of the pond, love the humor.. But, there must be some reason as to why I've met so many UK Immigrants in Canada and abroad...

I think sometimes we all cant win for losing... people often ask me what it is like in Canada and I say that it is a lot like living in the US, only completely different. But you cant really compare, because what makes Canada great can also be a downside... depends on where you are from and what you are used to.

It took me12 years to get used to live in the US.... (I will have been here 13 in October) and now I am going back and it is going to be completely different. Things have changed. The complaints I have about the US will just be replaced with different complaints about Canada!

LOL

Totally unrelated but as we were going into Target (one of the things I"ll miss about the USA) tonight I spotted a 5 dollar bill hanging out of my purse - and it has the green/red ink. And I exclaimed OH MAN! I"m never going to get used to the money! :p

The money here in the US is dull in comparison. But the Canadian money will be weird to have in my wallet again! LOL

I think my husband is looking forward to it, he misses being able to look down and know and not have to really look, lol.
Me I've always thought it odd, hehe. And whats up with the coins for $1 and a toonie- that might actually be nice. I wonder how much /hard it is for a waitress at the end of her shift.

I agree. And in the same spirit, it's taken me 10+ years to adapt from Montreal to Toronto and I'm still not all the way there. :p It's almost the same as changing countries in alot of ways.

Not being able to know what money I have by the colour has been something I've complained about forever when I'm in the U.S. So I totally agree with your husband. :p As for servers, I think they keep exchanging the coins for paper (5$ and up as they start to get alot of them, at least that's what I've observed. ;)

I used to empty the change in my purse at the end of the week and collect the loonies and toonies in 35mm film canisters..... the savings add up fast.

I bet - it makes sense and I bet I'll grow to really like not having to look so closely.

I've been caught thinking I have way more money left than I think I do because they are all $1 bills. 8). Then reality sets in  and I have to go running to the ATM :p. Oh well, at least we can laugh about differences sometimes.
