To help people understand ecas notes

Received passport request 11 Dec. Now ecas has been updated. Yesterday or today.

"In Process"
We received your application for permanent residence on June 3, 2011.
We started processing your application on December 11, 2012.
Medical results have been received.

So ECAS looks like a lagging indicator. ie in my case things proceed first then ecas gets updated.
so its best not to fixate on ECAS status. It seems to have no predictive power, goes to in status and starting to process after receiving PPR.

Good luck to all waiting. They are getting through the backlog.

I also am planning to do that, I have heard its taking 2 months to get an appointment though! I hope its earlier though

Ouch ! I was hoping for the following

mid Jan receive COPR (passport stuff sent 2012-12-14)
mid Feb land at Saskatoon & send for PR card (allowing 4 weeks for appointment)
Sometime in May get PR card
work travel will be required over the summer - so it seems a workable timeline.

But if it is 2 month I might try to short circuit that by traveling.

Will keep forum informed - I'll also give the office a call on Monday to find out

I will do the landing in the office anyways, but I also thought maximum it should take 1 month. I wonder the 2 month timeframe is just for the extra holidays we have this month. Looking at your predicted timeline you can still land in march and have PR Card in may - so it might work out actually. I think you might get your passports back within december itself.

Mine was sent to Detroit (via the Windsor dropbox). Got it back in 10 days with the visa stamped.

Yes, you can enter at any port. Flight, road or ship. Keep in mind, this is a one time entry after which you should not (ideally) leave the country (although you have officially landed) until you get your PR Card (60-65 days). Your PR Visa that is stamped in your PP that you sent to Seattle is valid for about 6 months, so plan your landing date properly (and chose off peak hours, like early morning, I landed at around 7.30am). Also, if you wish to go to your country of origin and return, you should do so, because you are exempt for duty on a number of items.

Good luck with it ! Don't think I'll get in Dec as the office is closed between Christmas and new year - so there will be nobody there to receive it.

Fingers crossed buddy .. Always be positive. Lets hope you get a christmas present in terms of PR Visa with passports!

CIC has launched a new bridging Open Work Permit program, if your work permit is expiring in the next 4 months and have applied for PNP CEC or FSW you can apply for that. You can find this in the latest manual released today on the website.

I'm tracking everything, ;D and i'd say they (CIC) must have been quite busy anyway, since the PR Card processing took longer in november, many others must have gotten their PR.

yes, i was just watching it to get a "kind of estimate" for my PR Card...whether we will receive it on time...we'll see...

At this point it looks like you will get it before you fly back..

Well, i fly back the 21st Dec. If the Officer was right, then yes, i'll get it until Thursday next week. Otherwise, 60days in my case will be ending the 3rd January 2013, and i come back to canada mid-jan 2013...

Fly back I meant back into Canada.. It seems a bit unrealistic that if you landed on 3rd november to get cards by 21st december. I saw on another thread someone getting cards on dec 4th who landed 2nd oct.
