BUFFALO APPLICANTS - File transferred to other VO due to Buffalo closing down

Hi,

I am Feb. 2011 applicant.

I got an email from CPPasking for "copy of regular passport" for myself and spouse. They did not ask for RPRF nor photos.

Is this normal? I am a little lost...

I have sent the scanned copy of passport pages to them and asked them if those are acceptable or I need to send the physical copies or original documents. But I haven't got back from them...

What should I do now?

What is your timeline and when did your file got transferred to Ottawa?

Copies of Passports are requested for those applicants who are from Visa Exempt countries. I think that is why visa does not need to be stamped on their passports. RPRF should have been requested if not paid, no idea why they did not ask for it.

Sorry Sharuu I have to discourage you on this, this case is different than ours. Its not a buffalo to ottawa transfer case. This is a fresh application to Sydney, NS. I doubt ottawa has started processing the transferred files yet.

2. To assiste in RCMP sreening, RCMP does check for entry stamps and check with border agencies if the applicant is in land.
3. Canadian authorities does need passport book no to do FBI database check during background verification.

The copies of passports can be asked for various reasons:

1. Passport gets expired very soon.
2. To assiste in RCMP sreening, RCMP does check for entry stamps and check with border agencies if the applicant is in land.
3. Canadian authorities does need passport book no to do FBI database check during background verification.

This is at the PPR stage, none of the reasons mentioned is applicable here. FBI checks and RCMP screening should already have been done prior to asking for passports. If passports are required they are required copies are not sufficient. If you applied for GCMS Notes, there is an option called Counterfoil which is the visa sticker that gets stamped on to the passport. If you belong to a country which needs visa to get into the country you need to send passports not the copies.
