Hello Bryanna and Scylla. Please help me I need your valuable advices. I am planning to apply for a visitor visa to Canada in order to visit my mother's grave.
Here's some background information: In 2012, I applied for immigration to Canada alongside my mother as a dependent child. Unfortunately, my application was rejected while my mother's was approved, so I was unable to accompany her. After residing in Canada for three and a half years, my mother fell seriously ill and was given a limited time to live by the doctors. Regrettably, I couldn't be with her during her final moments due to being pregnant and advised against traveling. She passed away in 2021, and now I have a strong desire to visit her grave, if only once, for my own inner peace.

My concern is whether my previous immigration attempt to Canada will have any impact on the decision regarding my visitor visa application if I decide to proceed with it.

Sorry for your loss. Bryanna has not been on the forum in years. You need to state your rejection in the TRV application.. Will it have an impact? It will depend on your profile. You need to show your own funds, ties to home country (job letter, spouse/child, business), travel history and reason to travel.

Thank you, Naturgrl, for your prompt response. I am a mother of two kids and rely on my husband for financial support. To demonstrate my ties to my home country, I do not have a job letter, but I do have my own apartment. My husband has a stable job and has been working at the same place for ten years. Additionally, my children are young, aged 6 and 2, so if I apply for a visa, I will need to bring them along as I cannot leave them behind. I would also like to mention that my brother in Canada is a permanent citizen. I would appreciate it if you could shed some light on how this particular situation might impact my application for a visit visa. Thank you in advance!

So your children also need TRVs and you rely on husband for financial support. You need to show that you have the funds in your account for all of you to travel. Taking your children lessens your chances for approval. So you need strong ties. Without a job, your only tie is your husband and apartment. Since you have an apartment show the deed in your name and any income generated from it. Your brother is PR so will weaken your home ties even more. He can send a letter of invitation but he must be clear that you are financially responsible for your trip.

Will also depend on what country you are from and why you were denied immigration while your mother was approved. Was she sponsored by your brother? Have you travelled internationally before especially to countries like the US, UK, Australia, etc.? Agree if you want the best chance of getting a TRV you should apply without your children.
