Brother's visitor visa - Biometrics request in 1 day

Hi all,

I applied for my brother's visitor visa yesterday, under the new online portal and today he already received his biometrics request letter. Not sure if it's a good sign or bad. Could anyone please advise if its normal for all applicants or are we just getting excited for no reason.

Also, he is from India (North) and currently not able to book an appointment slot as nothing is showing up.
Should we:
- wait it out until one is available
- go with an agent who charges money for appointment
- try early morning between 8am and 9.30am as someone on this forum suggests that it usually shows up around this time.

I am not sure about the others. But when i applied the TRV for my parents (in the old GCKey) portal, we got the biometric request within 12 hours. This was back in August 15, 2021.

The nearest Canada Visa Application Centre was at Chennai. Initially when my parents checked for appointments, everything was booked. However, one day my dad just randomly decided to check if any free slots are available, he got two slots. I think someone else might have canceled their appointment and thus my dad managed to book into those two slots.

I would recommend your brother to keep on checking for appointments - what if someone else cancels and he manages to gets that slot?

Keep checking between 8:45 am and 9:30 am ist. Highest chance of landing a slot.
