Hi Everyone,

I applied for my PR (Canadian Experience Class) and then sent my application for my Bridging work permit. My lawyer said I should file them at the same time.
And so I did.

So I just a letter saying I need to provide CIO with a copy of an Employment and Social Development confirmation. In other words, an LMO (if I am not mistaken).

Question is. As I understand (or think so anyway) when applying for a Bridging Work Permit you don't need an LMO.

Is that correct? Any help? Ideas?

No You don't need LMO for bridging work permit.
All you need is AOR(File number) , your current WP should gng to be expired with in 4 months , and u should be within canada to apply.
I am not sure why your lawyer said that you should apply both at the same time.

Thanks! I thought so. My postgraduate work permit expires in Nov 14. And so I wanted to comply by the 4 months prior rule. I haven't received the AOR yet.

When did you apply for CEC? You should have waited until you had AOR to apply for the BOWP. It doesn't sound like your lawyer knows what he's doing. You might want to find a new representative.

I applied for CEC Pr last month (August 1st). My lawyer said that because my visa expires in Nov 14, and there is a requirement that you have to apply for the BWOP 4 months before the expiry date, I should send both applications at the same time.
It sort of made sense to me, as they take some time to go over the application and i thought that by that time, I would have received my AOR letter.

As it turns out, I got the letter for the BOWP first requesting an LMO. I think they've got confused- hence me asking here.

By the way, how long does it take (in general) to get the AOR?

It is not a "4 month prior" rule. It is within the 4 months preceding the expiration, up to and including the date that your current permit expires.

In other words, you are not eligible BEFORE the final 4 months... Nor are you eligible for a BOWP before you have received your AOR for a CEC application.

I second the comments about your lawyer's lack of knowledge... find a new one, if you still feel you need a lawyer.

Thanks everyone.

I am not using a lawyer. I only went for a quick consultation, but obviously it didn't quite work out.

How long does it generally take to receive the AOR?

well it has been 1-2 months, but that's not a guarantee..

Thanks. It's been a month for me. I am sort of nervous about it because my visa expires in November. Trying to keep calm
