Hi everyone
I’m a bit confused with the new SOWP requirements. If my husband apply for BOWP can I apply for SOWP at the same time? Does he have to meet the TEER requirements even if we applied for PR?
Thanks!

I believe it depends on the PR pathway you applied under. Your husband being eligible for a BOWP does not automatically mean that you will qualify for an SOWP.

If he has already submitted his PR application and received the AOR, you may be eligible to apply for an open work permit as his spouse, but the exact requirements depend on the PR program and your husband’s situation.

Regarding the TEER requirement, I wouldn’t assume that the usual TEER 0–3 requirement applies in exactly the same way when the principal applicant is already in the PR process. There are specific provisions for spouses of PR applicants, so it’s important to check the rules for your particular PR pathway.

If you share which PR program you applied under (CEC, FSW, PNP, etc.), whether you have received your AOR, and what type of work permit your husband currently holds, someone may be able to give you a more specific answer.
