BOWP - How many of you have applied and received it successfully?

Hi guys,

I have received an email from CIC that my BOWP has been mailed.

But the email says "This letter is not valid for travel and is not a permit allowing you to remain in Canada."
What this means? Do I need an additional visa to stay here?? I am from a visa exempt country.

I think the "letter" referred to here is the email saying your BOWP has been mailed. Once you have the actual Work Permit since you are from a visa exempt country you will be good to go.

Medical (test) result is not required for a BOWP application. I did apply for a BOWP recently and I am sure there is no such result requirement.

Hi,

Does anybody know how long it usually takes to receive the BOWP in paper? I got my approval last friday but still not receiving the mail.

I need to renew my re-entry visa urgently. Does anybody know if I can just attach the approval letter in the application?

Hey guys, just found this thread and am SO happy I did. You guys seem to be great with OBWP and I find the whole process so confusing.

So I applied for PR in February 2014 under PNP and just turned to IP about a month ago. Just realized today that my current 2 year work permit is about to expire on 8th December and now I'm panicking a little!!! I read a lot online about getting an OBWP and looked at the online application and it's so much paperwork and I dont have everything they're requesting. Then I looked at the "normal" paper application you can send in per mail and it looks so much easier? The online form says you can only proceed if ALL the requested documents are uploaded. I dont have a "Proof that you Meet the Requirements of the Job Being Offered" or a "Proof of Medical Exam". What do I do??? Shouldnt it be a lot easier since I already submitted all those documents to CIC with my PR application? I'm so frustrated :'(

I think you have wrong answered to the questions which were shown when you started to apply online.
Maybe you answered that you had job offer letter and LMO, which led to closed work permit application.
try again to answer as if you don't have any job offer and LMO.

If you applied online, by email and CIC website. If you applied by paper, by post mail.

You should receive in 3-4 days. I am in Toronto and received in 3 days.

I haven't received original BOWP document. It approved on last Saturday.

FYI- BOWP approved as per the processing time mentioned on cic website.

WP expiry date : DEC 15th 2014.

Applied for BOWP: OCT 5th.
got couple of updated mails saying you had a new message.
Confirmed and Approved : OCT 20th.
WP reached by mail: OCT 23rd.

new WP validity: OCT 14th, 2015.
