Well I received my BOWP recently after roughly 25 days. I am trying to apply for the Temporary resident visa online but any idea on what should I enter under details of employer or person visiting since I am looking for a new job ?
Could you tell me your BOWP time lines: Applied Date? and Approved Date?

What is a 'letter of explanation' in terms of BOWP? Is it a cover letter explaining your details along with AOR email attached to it or something else? Please clarify. Thanks!

It varies from one application to another. My wife and I applied for BOWP on 23 Feb, and got the approval yesterday.
That makes it 17 days. And please note, you don't always get notified by email. Check myCIC often :)

I applied on 3rd March and received 3 emails so far from CIC, including one today morning, saying my application has been updated. But when I log into my cic account, there is no update or no new message there. I wonder why these messages are being sent then?

@priyas614, you can probably write a letter explaining why you need to apply for a BOWP including,
1. Details about PR application - with AOR, paste a copy of your AOR letter.
2. Current work permit number and the date of expiration.

An application for a "bridging open work permit" is basically just an application for an open work permit.

There are many groups that are eligible to apply for open work permits. See "Who can apply for an open work permit?" (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=177&t=17). It may or may not be clear to the processing officer which one of these groups you are in.

For this reason many people choose to attach an explanation letter, explaining how they are eligible. That is, they meet the criteria of operational bulletin 485A, "Bridging Open Work Permits for Certain Federal Economic Class Applicants" (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob485A.asp). Attaching an AOR is one way to demonstrate that you have received a "positive eligibility decision" as defined by OB485A.

Good news, a little more hopeful to have mine by the end of this week now :)

Does anyone know if these guys work weekends? Whats the likelihood of getting BOWP approved on a Saturday/Sunday?

Here is my timeline of BOWP. I applied online on 15 Feb and received it in mail on 11 March but got confirmation online 6 days before. I dont think they work on weekends though.
Anyone have applied TRV with BOWP ?, if so can you help me out on what to fill up in person or institution visiting detail as it is open permit.

Hi,

Me and wife also applied for TRV through online last week..U can fill any of your friends name and address in that no problem..You can also write 5000$ in the box where it asks funds available for living..

Do you mean we could quote a friends name for bowp, as my case I am looking for a new job, so as of now cant name an employer. And did you just scan your passport page and bowp permit copy to send online ?

I had an annoying moment today. I checked on my MyCIC account, the status on my application had changed to 'UPDATED', I clicked to read messages, nothing. I go back again and my status is now back to 'SUBMITTED'.

Frustrating.

So far I thought everyone is assigned a particular UCI number so not sure if it ok to have a different one.

@lufc_cal - They seem to send updates available but the only noticeable change I observed was at last when they approved.

Hi Guys! Really need your professional advice!

It could be that this question has been already asked. Anyway, I assume some CEC applicants might be in the same situation. The point is that I applied for BOWP without AOR providing a letter of explanation. The application was sent by regular post. Finally AOR has been received.

So, would you recommend to make a copy of that AOR and forward it to the Office to support my original application or they check the online system (even for paper appicants), will find my updated status, and there is no need to send any hard copies.

I would appreciate any help!! :)
