I would put "Unemployed" instead of "Not applicable", but otherwise, no it isn't required to have a job when you apply for the permit.

Congratulations! When did you apply? Today makes 13 days for me...I know I am just being impatient though ::)

I applied on March 13 and got it approved on the 26th :) don't worry, it took about 19 days for some people ! Good luck

Yes, it's allowed to leave Canada, but make sure you have valid visa for returning (if you're not visa exempt).

Hi all, would appreciate if anyone could shed some light on whether me and my CL could get back to Canada soon? We filed for our PR under CEC this month but we want to get back out there as soon as, we are currently in the UK - returned nearly a year ago however our work permits which are still valid (unless they've been cancelled?) until July 2014 (CL closed permit on LMO with X company and mine OWP) I understand that we can't apply for BOWP as we are not residing in Canada?

We really don't want to wait out of country for PR but don't want to jeopardise it either.. Any suggestions?

Here is an update on my TRV...to give an idea to others who are in the process of applying or applied and waiting for their visas..

I applied online on 24th March. Received passport request in myCIC account on 9th Apr. Sent passport on 9th Apr. Received at Ottawa on 11th Apr. Received approved update in myCIC account on 15th Apr. Received my passport back at Toronto address on 16th April. So overall it took 24 days to get my TRV. I got the visa for one year.

Yes. Start the online application process and you will be asked several question about the applicant and his/her dependents. Answer the questions and you will be provided with the list of documents the applicant need to fill for himself and his/her dependents.

Hi,

Where do we have to do this in the process of applying BOWP? Is it something that must be done? I saw it in OP 485 bulletin.

For a bridging open WP issued to FSWP, FSTP or CEC, there are no restrictions to Employment Location and therefore the Province of Destination value must be set to UNK first, and then the City of Destination value of Unknown can be selected as follows:

Province of Destination: UNK
City of Destination: Unknown

Please reply. Thanks !

Operational bulletins are primarily written with CIC staff as their audience. This instruction is for the officer issuing the work permit, not for the applicant. You don't have to do this.

Also, make sure you refer to OB485a, which is the current version, for information about the BOWP (though the section you quoted is identical).

Thanks a lot LPS. I just have another quick question.

Under the employment details section for the past 10 years, is it OK to provide the information for the current employer in the current activity box?

I was a little reluctant because I thought it may confuse the officer to issue a closed WP rather than an open one.

Please guide. Thanks again !

There's no chance of them being confused. The employment history section of IMM5710 applies to everyone. You will be issued an open work permit because you answered the question "What type of work permit are you applying for?" with "Open Work Permit".

Thanks a lot again. So for the current activity, do we put the current date (year, month) in the "To" field or we just leave it blank?

Also, I read somewhere in this forum that we should say no when they ask you this question "Do you have a written job offer letter?" in the beginning, just because we are applying for an open work permit .

In my case I do have a job offer letter, so I was wondering how should I answer that question - with a yes or no?
