Would a birth or baptismal certificate of the person being sponsored be mandatory.

In this case he has a valid passport and 2 pieces of government issued ID cards.

Please let me know.

as it is listed as a required document on the checklist for the sponsored person, it must be included in the application.

you will want to double check your country specific guide to make sure nothing else is needed.
