best way to contact CIC for status of application

Guys,
thank you all for much needed support.

I submitted my application on 29 feb 2016. on 13 july 2016 my background check started.till today i have no updates from CIC.

I have already submitted GCMS Request.

Do you guys think emailing CIC about status of my application will give any results? On 29 August 2016 , i will be completing 6 months (which is time CIC should have made decision on my application)

You may give them a call. CIC says once your application is filed, you should contact them only after 6 months. But they responded positively in my case when I contacted them in like to 30 days.
