Belgian citizen living in Germany - IEC Working Holiday eligibility

Hi everyone,

I am a 27-year-old Belgian citizen with a valid Belgian passport. However, I currently live and am registered in Germany and do not have a residential address in Belgium, although I still have close family living there.

The IEC requirements for Belgium state that applicants must prove they are residents of Belgium and provide a residential or mailing address in Belgium.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or knows whether Belgian citizens living in another EU country are still eligible for the Belgian IEC Working Holiday category?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Having close family is irrelevant. If you don’t qualify , why are you asking when you clearly don’t meet the rules

I would check the IEC rules very carefully before applying, because the residence requirement can be different from simply holding a valid Belgian passport. If Belgium requires proof of current residence or a Belgian mailing address, living and being officially registered in Germany could potentially affect your eligibility. Having family in Belgium may not be enough if they require proof that you personally reside there. I would contact the Belgian authority or IEC directly and explain your situation before submitting an application. It is better to get confirmation in writing so you know what documents will be accepted.
