Dears,

i am being sponsored by my wife and my file wen't in process since march 7th and nothing since

i am palestinian but i am currently in Thailand and i've been recognized as a refugee by UNHCR there,is that gonna make the process fast or not

i'm afraid to share this info with CIC because any new information will delay the process as i know,

so is it a good or bad idea to tell them

best wishes
regards

Hi

No, refugee status won't help the application. Your sponsorship app is based solely on the relationship between you and your wife.

I don't know if there is any requirement to tell CIC that you are now classed as a UNHCR refugee, you may want to contact them to double check. CIC is very strict about anything that they could construe as misrepresentation.

Thanks for ur answer, I will check with them, hope that they respond this time cause they are not answering my emails any more

I believe on the application form, it asks "have you applied for refugee in any countries besides Canada"
We did our app on the old forms from 2011 and I know this was one of the questions, not sure if its still on the new forms or not.

but other than telling them you applied refugee, they will know when they do your background checks for Thailand. But it wont speed up your process unfortunately.
