Hey clossycan,

I suppose that the letter you are referring to is the "sponsor approval" from the first stage? in that case, it is sent to the sponsor ( you I suppose), not to the applicant. By now you should have gotten the letter - especially if you are in Canada. If you have received an email, then you will only get that - if you didn't get an email, check the junk/spam folder first, and if you don't have anything, you can call back CIC and request another copy sent to you.

If that's not your question - then I am not sure what letter your wife is waiting for.

Manilla sends out "passport request" quite at the beginning of the process, but if the sponsorship was approved in September 10th, then it's normal that she has not gotten her passport request yet.

Good luck,
Sweden

This is what i got in my mail box on their web site, So she should of got letter by now ?

Hey Rob,

the letter that they are mentioning is sent to you.
The process has 2 stages:
First step is the sponsorship approval: and CIC has taken a decision for that part on the 10th of September. The communication is sent to YOU as a sponsor, not to your wife. Did you receive an email saying that you have been approved as a sponsor? if yes, then that's it - you will not receive anything else ( the "Letter" they mention can also be an email). If you haven't received the sponsorship approval, either by letter or by email ( but not both), then take contact with CIC and ask them to re-send, because it's been 2 months now, so you should have received it.
the second part is for the applicant (your wife): it's done outside of Canada, probably in Manilla for you as your wife is from the Philippines. They will contact your wife to ask for more documents if needed, or her passport (it can be by email or by post).

CIC has taken a decision concerning the first stage only - the sponsorship part, and I would think ( but can not be 100% sure) that it is positive. Your file has been transferred to Manilla and they have matched the medicals with the file. So now - your wife needs to wait for an email or a letter from Manilla Embassy.

I hope it is a bit clearer like this.
GOod luck,
Sweden

Here is where you can find the May and onward Manila spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhYSbv3Vc0IzdFBrMlJtemcyNW96ZFpkamh6dnBvT0E#gid=0

You'll see that most of MAY (SA approved in July and August) are still waiting for PPR. Like Sweden said that Sept 10th letter will be your sponsorship approval, so unfortunately still a bit to go. All things being equal, you're eight weeks behind early May (just getting their PPR now).
