Hi everyone,
I am in a pretty shitty situation right now and am hoping to find some answers...
I have a paper based PR application in progress through the BC PNP, it has only been a few months and I haven't even received AOR. Unfortunately things at work have been really bad for a while now and I came to the conclusion that I can no longer work for this employer since it has been really affecting my mental health drastically...
I have a sick note from the doctor already. Now my question is what happens if I resign from the job or if they fire me? I am on an employer specific work permit and got points for having a job offer and working with the same employer for over 1 year already before I got nominated. But the current PR processing time is 25 months, I can't do it anymore, I am gonna go crazy! Is there really no way to get a new work permit with someone else? Has anyone had a situation like this before? Maybe write a letter to IRCC and explain that the job literally made me sick etc.? And I read that a work permit only becomes invalid when it expires even when you stop working with that employer, it just means you can't work anymore but stay in the country as a temporary resident, is that right? But what about my PR application then? Will it become invalid when i get fired or resign? Hoping to find some other people that might have had the same situation and could help me please thank you!

You are right that you can remain in Canada for the duration of your work permit validity but that you cannot work for another employer since you are on an employer specific work permit.

Since your nomination relies on your having a job offer, you will want to find a new employer in the province who is willing to give you a job offer and support the work permit process (and anything required for the nomination). I believe that needs to be your next step if you want to keep your PR application alive.

Good luck and wait for others to comment with further advice.
