You need to show whoever-is-going-to-pay-for-your-visit's bank statements. If something is going to be paid from a different pocket then both person's bank statements should be sent.

Sorry, forgot about the amount of money. The amount is not fixed, you should prove you'll have enough for whatever you're saying you'll be doing and for how long.

For example, someone staying in a hotel, going out for dinner everyday, renting a car and wanting to tour around the country for 3 months will need more money in the bank than someone who's just going to stay at someone else's home, with paid food and household, and staying for 2 weeks.

You're always better off sending at least 6 months worth of statements. It could, in practice, work with less than 6 months if payslips are also submitted, which i recommend you do as well (to backup the whole plan even further).

Also, do not forget to get birth certificate (notarized if possible) and letter of invitation from your wife.

Be aware that spouses (in the situation that you describe) are rarely granted a TRV, this is because CIC doubt that the applicant will leave at the end of the visit.

1. Because a TRV says you are only going to visit Canada temporarily and then leave, with a Canadian resident spouse, CIC takes the attitude that your intention is to remain permanently, so you are a "non-genuine" visitor.

Please understand I am not saying 100% that it won't be granted.
But I have never heard of a TRV granted in that circumstance, I would suggest that you may not want to waste the time and money.
I guess that the numbers for refused TRV's in this circumstance have to be around 99.99%.

I suppose I better check the government data portal, it may be 99.999% :)

Please re-read the previous posts...
Summary - In this type of situation, CIC believe that there is a very high risk of overstay, so it would not be a visit, therefore the TRV would be refused.

Spouses that need TRV's (when their spouse is in Canada) usually have to wait until they are granted PR before they can travel to Canada.

Why do you think there's so many of us on this forum dying to see our families/partners etc and are unable too??

We have the money to pay for the tickets and expenses and everything else in between, but CIC doesnt grant visa..

So hence we all sit around on our butts and suffer... Welcome to the club my friend!

This is only the beginning.. Trust me, I'm at the stage of contemplating packing up everything and going back to see my husband since he can't come here..

This is an option that many people have to take.
