Bank history in landing

Hello,

I have a question for landing. When people go to border or an interview for landing, do officers usually check all bank histories/ e-transfer histories?

I just wonder how people get rejected when they go to border/interview in landing. And how officers find out illegal activities.

They don't tell us how they catch illegal activities, that would beat the purpose.
