Can someone on a visit visa open an account in Canada? If I transfer funds to that account how does it get taxed?

To piggyback on this topic, do we need a mailing address to open a bank account in Canada? For example, someone who has landed but has not yet moved permanently may want to establish a bank account before he makes his move permanent.

Besides, why do she/he need to open account in Canada? Can't you transfer money to his/her overseas account? There are lots of things they can do to get access their account such as international credit cards, online banking and debit cards.
