Hi,

I am in the process of filling the Background Declaration form and the Supplementary Travel form. I have a few questions about the personal history and the Addresses section.

1. Do both forms have to tally?
2. In the Personal History Section - Do I have to include all the vacations taken while I am working? for e.g

2012|03 - Present - Employed
2012|02 - 2012|02 - Vacation
2011|09 - 2012|02 - Employed

3. In Address Section of the background declaration form- They have asked you to list all the residential addresses you have stayed in from 18 years of age - do I have to put all the residential addresses of family I have visited on vacation?

4. In the Supplementary Travel form - they say list all the travels you have made since you were 18 outside your country of origin or residence. In my case I work in canada but my country of origin is India, so do I have to include trips made for work to Canada in this form? Also last year I made a trip to India which is my country of origin for 2 weeks, do I have to include that too? I have also made multiple trips to the US for shopping and weekend trips - do these trips have to be included in the Personal History Section of Background Declaration as well?

Thanks in advance for the replies

hi there,

i know its a pain the a** to complete these forms, .... i have been travelling for soo much in the last 10 years...

anyway,....lucky us, at least you only need to complete them by the month/year, and not date/month/year.
so, complete it that way. normally you don't need to mention "short stays" like the vacation stuff. I treated it that way (i read this on the www) that i only mentioned places where i stayed long enough that I needed a postal address (for paperwork, insurance,Social Security. like for a job or so!)

As long as there are NO GAPS, then its fine. if you stayed at home for vacation 3-4 weeks, or unemployed at home, this you need to mention. (i needed 5 extra forms to complete, of each, address AND personal history)

does it help? ::)

btw..yes, both forms have to tally...so, make sure that the address you mention matches the personal history...

as long as you were legally employed, (got the T4's or payslips for that) then it wasn't a "vacation"..i know it sounds weird....4 weeks is a bit long....and since you've been employed....i would mention it. In general, the Visa Officer will not check every single employer or vacation you had, then immigration would take many years, to get a "possible" response from possibly already not existing enterprises anymore. For example, in my case, i was working in NZ in a Coffeeshop for 4 months....but it closed down 2 months later i left (management issues)...so..there's no way to double check this for them...after 5 years...i mentioned it...

what i mean is, the Visaofficer has a way dealing with that, they've got enough experience to judge. Be on the safe side, mention it, and if you have anything missing to proof it, write an explanation letter where you mention the circumstances....thats what i did....and nobody has complained (yet) :)

alrighty? :)

Sure thing I will mention it. I also had another question about my spouse..she is a homemaker, n she's been visiting family in the states for 15 days max, does she have to mention that in the personal history?
Another thing is her education background .. she has a gap of 2 years there, she was in the states studying n a college, but due to some personal issues she had to abandon that n return to India, so she does not have any kind of a degree from the college there but she has degrees from India all the way upto masters. So my question is how do I explain this in her form, she is my dependent. And another imp point is that this was more than 10 years ago, so I guess I dont have to list it in the personal history but would a letter of explanation suffice?

Thanks again for your help

15days US is fine, been a vacation i guess.
Education, well, 2 years is a lot, when she was studying, then she was registered somehow, but, if you say it was more than 10 years ago, then its fine. In my case for example, i was 2 twice in austria for a season 2000/2001...lucky me it was over 10 years ago.. :) because i cant remember my address, and wouldn't find straight away my T4's for austria either... :)

as long as its really over 10 years ago, then there's no need to mention.

any more questions :) ?

if its longer than 10 years ago,...then never mind. :) Of course you can add (voluntary) the additional 11th and 12th year which possibly includes here studying....but then you might need the transcript (from her university where she was) to prove where she was and what she did. about the transcript, that's just a guess, but be prepared they might ask for it! i'm not an expert regarding the spouse issue....but if the documents are not tallied and show "mismatches" then they get possibly "paranoid" and you opened yourself Pandoras box and will get hammered with questions... lool You know what i mean... think :)

good luck! :)
