Background check -- when

I thought usually what happens is that they do the eligibility check first and it will say next step is to conduct a background check. Then when eligibility check is done, the background check goes into progress. However, ours has been saying background check is in progress for 3 months, so I thought they had made a mistake. But when I asked what this means, someone in the February 2017 thread told me they heard that they recently started processing the background check in Mississauga before it gets to the VO. I am kinda confused as to what is really going on, that's why I am going to order the notes. But I think I will give it another month, as it's only been a few weeks since they started processing in Mexico. That way, it should show something in the background check after 2 months, I hope, in case they really didn't do anything in Mississauga.

I also don't understand when they send out the AOR2. It seems that you got the "we are processing your app" message around the same time as me but you haven't got the AOR2 email yet. Someone else said it took them 2 months to get that same AOR2 email, so it's a good thing you checked your eCAS. Maybe it depends on what officer is processing your app.
It might depend on the officer, PA'S nationality, who knows! Some nationalities go faster than others. From what I have seen, the process is slow for the DR but for other countries such as Argentina (Argie got PPR in 5 months) or maybe even Chile might be faster. Maybe there are different officers to handle the different countries, for example officer A handles argentina, chile, costa rica and panama while officer b handles the DR, honduras, Mexico and venezuela or maybe any officer can handle any nationality. Maybe some officers send the email, others don't send it, most officers might update the application and reflect the change for the background check from "next step is to conduct" to "in progress" but others might not do this. I have heard people going straight to DM without their background checks never changing!

No idea how they handle things down there.

From what I ve seen and experienced when my application was in Missasauwa I noticed 2 different officers handling my application once it was transferred to a Mexico VO, the same female officer sent us mailing until I received PPR So who knows??? I still waiting from Miguel office to send my passport back!!!
They received it on May 17th and I got an automatic respond that they have received the passport and it can take up to 30 days to return it...
So I will keep you updated.

You are the theory person! I never thought of these things before, but you might well be right. I would love it if someone would make a documentary on this whole process, but I suppose the government doesn't want to reveal its secrets to the public.

Did you order GCMS notes or jus through correspondences you received? I seem to recall reading somewhere else that there is one officer in Mississauga and one at the VO that handles your app and one is the lead officer and the other sends info to them on the part they review and make recommendations.

Hope you get your passport back soon.

I didn't order GCMS notes. I base my experience in the correspondences I received and who sent the PDF docs every time they requested or informed us something. I remembered we received emails from officer xxxx and then a request from another officer they don't use real names. It was before they transferred the application to Mexico. Once in Mexico a female officer handle our case. Let's call her Ana

Some post march applicants have reported Mississauga started their background check before sending the app to the VO which implies the process is changing.

Did you get the official AOR2 email from MVO? if you did then you should order your notes. Also is your background check in progress? or it says "next step is to conduct a background check"
Mine is also like that.. Post march 2018 applicant... Yet to receive my aor2.. But bgc:"we are processing your background check"...

Is this good or bad

It means nothing in the end, they may never complete it until the very end. Thats how it was for us. It stayed at in process.

ours was submitted on march 1, 2017, transferred to VO on april 10 2017, ppr march 5 2018 - you should look at your specific VO thread and look at the spreadsheet youll have a better idea of your VO processing times
