background check for TRV

Hi,

i used to have a very smooth and quick processing for the last 6 years of my TRV (visit visas) however, recently i re-applied for a renewal of my visa (July2016) and nothing has came up yet. The processing duration ways exceeds the estimated processing on CIC website for Outside Canada applied TRVs (Abu Dhabi's office). nearly 100 days now!
They have informed me that they are conducting background checks and that is it.
I am surprised and i have missed a lot of family occasions in the summer due to this unforeseen issue and i am unaware how much more time they need to clear my application ! anyone has a clue ?

Successful TRV application attempts do not imply that future ones will be similar in processing time. Unfortunately you have gone through the exhaustive background checking. This is random and agreed when applying.

Usually it takes from 1 month to 4 months, but might take longer.

How did you find out they are doing background check? Is there any specific number where you can call? My parent's application is also stuck since 55 days and when we called helpline number they said its being processed, nothing specific about what is holding them.

1. Please note that this is very specific for visa applications processed at Abu Dhabi, send an email to : ABDBIIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca
2. general method : use e-cas to inquire about the status of your application

IMPORTANT:
55 DAYS is still within processing time frame for applications submitted from UAE or Qatar, so they will not respond to you unless the time frame passed the estimated duration (started from time of biometirc not from date of application on-line)

Hello Phantom85, I know it has been more than 1.5 years since you've posted this but I'm curious to know when did you get your TRV visa to Canada in the end?
