They received Our ARC on January 15th, and up to this date we haven't heard anything. Our letter was a little over a page and we had to pay the $400. After sending that in we realized we hadn't paid our RPRF and so we payed it 3 weeks ago, hoping that wont slow the process more than the ARC has slowed it. Like leisaP has been telling me I'm hoping the ARC takes the 2 months or max 3.

[/quote did they have to ask you for the arc?

My ARC got approved in two months, however the date in the letter they gave us along with COPR and stamped passport was only a few days earlier than the date of the visa.

Yes they did, a week after we sent it in.

How long in between was it since they asked for RPRF fee and then the ARC fee?

I paid the fee online on February 4 the same day they sent the email and still haven't heard from them.

They never asked us for the RPRF fee, we just decided to pay it since we didn't pay it at the beginning. We figured it would be something less they would ask for. We paid the RPRF on feb 8th and on this Friday we will email or call immigration requesting our confirmation. As per our ARC they received the payment receipt on Jan 15th and we haven't heard a thing from them.

I was just wondering if someone could help me out. My husband came to Canada on the farm workers program. He left the farm two months in and remained in Canada. We eventually met and later got married. Immigration was looking for him but never found him. My husband hired a immigration lawyer and was advised he leave canada before we can send in the papers. At the airport he was giving an exclusion order which he is banned from Canada for 1 year. Is an arc needed to return to canada?

Both Yes and No for an exclusion order.

Yes an ARC is needed if he wishes to return within the 12 months that he has been banned from.

No according to Citizenship and Immigration Canada you do not need an ARC Canada providing
that
  • 12 months have passed since you left Canada AND
  • you have a Certificate of Departure showing the date you have left Canada.

You can read more about it here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/arc.asp

So it is possible the visa office could grant oh with your visa before the 12 month mark? Would they then request you to pay the 400? Thank you for your reply.

As long as you wait till the year is up. He wont need an arc
I just saw a couple go through mexico, they applied a couple months before the exclusion order was up. So by the time they were approved for PR, the exclusion order had ended and they were not asked for an arc.

I heard the visa office needs to ask for the arc before you can apply for it.

true, they need to ask you for it.

Anyone making any progress with their ARC?

Hi Bonnie,
No word yet on my husband. They've now had his passport for 7 weeks. I received an email 2 weeks ago that they're still working on his ARC. So were now almost at 4 months waiting for the ARC to be approved.

Update on my case:

Sent ARC January 15 to the Bogota Visa office

March 18th I got a requested to submit my passport ASAP (did so on the same day)
*letter states my visa is valid until September
March 19th the embassy in bogota received my passport
March 19-22 checked Ecas and it showed -IN PROCESS-
March 23 checked Ecas and showed -DECISION MADE- (also my current home address changed to Canada)

*NO INTERVIEW was requested in my case

So this leads me to say my ARC took 2 months to process in Bogota. I am awaiting for my passport hoping it arrives soon!
