Has anyone been through the spousal sponsorship and had to get an ARC?

Any ideas on how long it takes or how the letter should be formatted?

Would appreciate any suggestions, Thanks!!!!

We had to do one we sent it Dec 13th and are still waiting. We wrote it as a business letter addressed to the embassy.
I dont believe there is a "set" timeline for how long it takes.

Have they requested your passport yet?

My spouse was a failed refugee,
he was asked for ARC in sept. we sent it Oct 19,
nov 27 they asked him for an RCMP clearance and some other documents,
we sent them dec 17,

last week we got another asking for more documents, apparently we sent the wrong ones the first time, now we are waiting to get he correct documents from vancouver.

But there are a few other people from mexico who got the arc approved in 2 months or less.

the letter should be business letter, like nice looking, not point form
our letter was 2 pages i believe.

but yeah i agree with Chuladaa there is no set timeline. and it is different for every country. some embassies process the arc much faster than others.

yes I guess it is different for everyone. Our draft is only a page

We were never asked for additional documents (example. RCMP clearance) just recently for the Right of Permanent Residence fee, 2 immigration photos, and fee for removal expenses.

I have not been asked for a letter or to pay the fee for Authorization to Return to Canada yet, but my immigration consultant suggested that it would be the next step they ask for. We are just trying to get an idea to prepare for it!

I heard that some people don't have to write a letter just pay the fee, I'm not sure if this is true.

Okay, yeah usually they wont ask for the RCMP unless at some point you got your fingerprints taken inside canada, or there is some sort of confusion with someone of the same name.

Yeah usually the ARC is the last thing they ask for after you pay the other fees ect. it comes at the very end.
and I know a few years ago there was some people who didnt have to write a letter, i dont remember which country they were applying from, but i did hear about that. Im not really sure if thats the case still, but i know everyone that has gone through mexico city has had to write a letter. could be different for different visa offices.

we paid all those fees at the very begining when we sent our application.
but i think they would ask u to pay the PR fee before sending the arc. but im not really sure about that.

the ARC takes 1 to 12 weeks.

can i just say something, why do we always have to wait for immigration officers to ask for certain things especially when they are mandatory, for instance if you have to send an arc you also have to pay for it, so why don't u just do both and send both, the more they ask the longer your wait is. For the arc the list was a letter, a payment for arc and my police record, everything they ask i gave them so they wont have no reason to ask and then have to delay for another 2 months.

Hi, my husband received his ARC request from immigration December 10 2012, I helped him type a two page letter of why he should return and also he apologized for disobeying immigration. We then received the PPR request on Feb 6. We're still waiting to get his PP back.

No it took only like 2 months for the ARc but the whole sponsorship process is long for us because of a failed refugee and PRAA and then he was removed from Canada

is it a fact that as a failed refugee and a PRAA and a removal takes longer than a normal application? btw whats a PRAA?

I agree! If only it were that easy!
