Hello,

I spent May 2014 to August 2015 in Quebec living with my partner and working with a Working Holiday Visa. Now my partner and I are spending time back in Australia travelling and getting to know family, but I want to return to Quebec with him next year when he starts university. I have been advised that since the changes to the Working Holiday visa rules, I wont be able to apply for a second open work visa. Although I dont know if that applies to me seeing as I am outside of Canada at the moment. Do I need to apply for permanent residency? And are Australian Statutory Declarations of Common Law Union recognised internationally or will I need a Canadian one?

Thanks for any help!

Sorry for the terribly late reply! We had been living together continuously since May 2014. Currently going through the PR process which has raised a whole different set of questions!

He should simply sponsor you for PR as a common law partner. That's the easiest option.
