Baffled the average Ottawa time is 6-8 months (last time I checked).
Hi might be a dumb question but when you say you checked, where did you check? When I look at the "Processing times" on the CIC site, Ottawa is 17 months. Am I not looking in the right place (outland, spousal, US citizen). Thanks!

The times posted by CIC are worst case. For a true indication of processing times you should find the thread on this forum and the spreadsheet for that particular visa office.

The CIC processing times refers to how long it took them to go through 80% of the cases (so your case could be anywhere between 1-17 months). Likely if its straightforward, it will take less time. Definitely check the spreadsheet for more accurate timelines reported by people: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FAYZyQgud1lzp7fM28i2O8ZrfbMAxdTc_t7_fiwI6ak/edit#gid=658388151

P.S. My husband officially landed as a PR on Nov 10! :) Such a relief, I had butterflies the whole way picking him from the airport. In the end, they just asked him questions from the CoPR (if he has any dependents, etc) and sent him on his way. There was a wrong Entry date that the Lima office typed up, but th eofficer just crossed it out when he pointed out the mistake. The systems were down so he couldn't get his SIN card right there, but will do it in the city.

Good Luck everyone :)

Congrats! I guess Ottawa is a hub for a ton of people. I am tempted to get a GCMS to see were we are at.

You were really fortunate to see PR that quickly with your husband's VO, IrisSphere. Congrats!

nyctomtl, Ottawa VO takes from 6-10 months. I just got DM from a May 5th app, though some from April and March and even February are still waiting, and a few even from December 2014 saw DM this past month.

I'd realistically think 6 months is as fast as you'll see something from Ottawa versus some VOs that can turn out DM faster. (Still, those VOs that can do received to DM in less than 6 months are rare.) I think IrisSphere might be only one of a few that that applied in August who will see DM before the new year.

Alas, chin up! It'll happen. :p

Hey, Baffled.

I ordered notes a few times waiting for my application to see DM, and I didn't actually see anything useful both times I ordered them. Go figure, right?

First batch I ordered was about 3 months after I applied, and it showed nothing but the SA approval and that the file had been sent to Ottawa. (I ordered them mostly because I had an address change that hadn't shown up in ECAS despite it being a month earlier. It showed up on my notes, which gave me relief.)

The second time I ordered them was 4.5 months after I applied, and it STILL showed nothing; there was nothing new from the time my application had received SA and been transferred to Ottawa. That batch was pulled October 14th (just over 5 months since I sent my application in). I went IP on October 9th, got a batch email request on the 23rd, and then got DM on November 14th. I say that only because in less than 1 month, my application went from having zero movement to DM, and the GCMS notes showed none of it because it was pulled so soon after my request. (6 days after to be exact)

I'd wait another month or at least until you see In Progress to order them, else you might get some really boring notes like I did. ;) That, however, is just my pragmatic opinion. Sometimes it's a nice peace of mind to order them, and if that's something that'll help, then definitely order them. I at least slept better knowing that ANY progress had been done to my application, even though it wasn't the penultimate progress of them making decisions about eligibility, security, etc.

PS-- I plan to order my notes once my case is closed to see all the notes that I'd hope to see after previous GCMS note orders. I just want to see what they said for the sake of curiosity/get that catharsis of having GCMS notes that were actually informative. hah!

Definitely feeling fortunate! :) Though Lima is a special case - I contacted a few people that applied in July and by October they already had their passports stamped. I heard Sydney is also quite fast.

That's crazy! What I wouldn't have given to have had speeds like that. Congrats, again. Looks like you landed last week; hope you're settling in well!

Thanks Ineffable.... So your May 5th app got a DM just recently congrats! General question -- is it typical to hear anything between In Process (which for me was October 7, 2015) until DM? My meds were done upfront and I don't think I'll have to submit my passport. Or should I just check eCAS daily for the next three months. Thanks!

Hey, nyctomtl.

Thanks!

It's a 50-50 chance that you'll hear something between IP and DM. If you are from a non-visa exempt country, you would have a passport request as they're coming to the end or as you get DM. If you're a US applicant, there won't be any such request.

Some people get batch emails requesting additional proof of sponsor residency, including missing medicals or police certificates, and paying RPRF if you haven't already. Some people don't get this email and go straight from IP to DM. Some even get specific requests from officers assigned to individual cases—though those are even less common, and they ask for things like further proof of relationship, etc.

The short answer is: you may or may not hear something between now and DM. (Frustrating, right?)

We just want a good news DM so we can stop worrying and start celebrating. Yet, all I see in eCAS is In Process, Medical Receive. I know the latest is about 5 to 6 months process time from the time Ottawa received my PR application, but it's good to wish. :D

Hi All,

I am August 20 applicant and i haven't received even AOR yet . I called CIC call centre once the website was updated with the application processing date passed my application date. They sent query to CPC Mississauga office and asked me to wait until they contact me.I am still waiting to hear from CPC office.

As per CIC call centre they have to wait 90 days before they can sent query to Mississauga office about the status on the application again.

Can someone please tell me if CIC send back the application after AOR is issued or before if any information is missing in the application. Do they put any note somewhere ? I have not received my application back.

I am really concern whether CIC has misplaced my file and will ask to reapply again after couple of months. This is really frustrating as not to know where my application is and what is going on with it.

I tried log in Ecas with the receipt number of the fees paid but i see nothing.

For backup i have already started preparing the new application and planning to contact MP to send letter to CIC regarding this.

I would appreciate any feed back as what should i do in this situation ?

Vishu
